Sweet Dreams

Here is a little peek inside our bedroom. I wanted a relaxing feeling without being too feminine.  But lets be honest.....it's pretty feminine.  I'm just glad my husband doesn't mind.

Our nightstands were origionally a light natural wood, but I painted them white and antiqued them a little.

This is one of my favorite pieces in our room. It's from Ballard Designs and I fell in love with it the second I laied eyes on it. One day it will hang above our front door. But I have to wait until we get a house for that...

Inspirations

Here is a little peek into my "Things to Sew" folder.  Whenever I see something inspiring that makes me think, "hey, I could make that", I just plop it into this folder.  But let's be honest, some of these may be a little ambitious....

love the fabric, love the color, love the bow

I have some extra striped fabric that would be perfect for this

fun twist on a pencil skirt

This one looks fairly simple, and the best part about it is the back.  I can just use the shirring technique, and that means NO zipper!

On a side note, I made a skirt this weekend that turned out absolutley craptastic.  I'm going to have to spend a lot of quality time with my seam ripper if I am going to save this skirt.

I thought I'd give you a little peek inside our little abode.....

I received this handmade doily as a wedding present and it added just the touch I was looking for.  It worked out nicely since doilies are all the rage these days.

Key holder:  Finders Keepers in American Fork.  A charming little gem of a store.  /  Curtains:  custom made by yours truly  /  Clock: Target

I wanted a fresh airy feel that is calming and comfortable to live in.

The Perfect Pink

I'm not a huge lipstick girl.  Most days, I prefer just a tinted gloss.  But for the days when I feel like adding a little kick to my outfit, this baby does the trick.  It's so fresh and summery.

Fabric

Ok everyone, you need to put your life on hold for just 1 second and head over to Fabric.com.  They are having a HUGE blowout sale.  I am talking $2 a yard for tons of designer fabric.

Just click on the Westminster Blowout Sale, and then during checkout enter the code ANNV1 to get 20% off of your entire order!  And if you spend over $35 (which isn't hard to do...) you get free shipping.  It's like having the LA Fabric District inside your own home.

Here are a few lovelies that I scored:

Hurry though, these babies go quick.  There were a few fabrics that were removed right from my shopping card because they sold out before I could check out!

Embellished tanks

A while back Old Navy was having a 50% off sale on all of their clearance items.  I grabbed a few tanks that ended up being only $1 each so I could embellish them myself.  Now I wish I would've just grabbed the whole stack.

I patterned this one after a J.Crew top I already had:

With a little investigating, it was easy to tell just how to recreate it

I bought 2 tops of the same color, so I cute up one of them for the flowers

I just cut a bunch of 2 1/2" squares,

folded each one in half twice, and cut out a petal, keeping the middle section in tact.

Then I did that over and over, pinned them where I wanted them (with the petal pointing downwards), and hand sewed the top point of the petal to the shirt.

Voila!

Here is another one I did:

Eat your heart out J.Crew.

Whimsy

It's my birthday today, so I thought I'd take it easy today and kick off your weekend with a few beautiful pieces from Joesph Frank.  His designs are so airy and full of movement.  They would instantly brighten up any home.

Happy weekend!

p.s. I am 25 today.  Why does that sound so ancient to me?  I feel like I should be turning 23.
