sewing class

Last week, I taught another class on making shirt dresses to my Relief Society.  For the first hour I instructed on how to make the dress, and then the second hour the girls got to work each making their own.  There was a great turn out and it was fun to see all the different fabrics the girls brought to make their own shirt dresses.

I totally spaced on bringing my camera, but luckily my friend Merrick was nice enough to grab a few pics.

I was shocked the next day when I already had a few emails of some completed dresses.  They all did a fabulous job.  I'm all about spreading the satisfying feeling of being able to make your own clothes.  It's so empowering!

BreAnne

Aren't they adorable??  There were even more girls wearing their dresses in church on Sunday.  It was awesome!

  1. Do you happen to know where BreAnne found her fabric, it's beautiful! I'm a teacher, so this would be the perfect work dress for the end of the school year when it gets really warm!

  8. Oh my goodness. I am totally in love!!! I lobe the Merrick dress. I am so in love with yellow. Do you know where she got her fabric? Is it cotton or knit? I can't wait to try these out. Did you use the winter dress tutorial??? I just found your blog today after seeing the post on Ucreate and I can't wait to try some of your tutorials!!! I'm just learning to sew, but I have a real weakness for clothes and fashion!!! Thanks, Juliana

  11. I just found this blog and LOVE these dresses and the cardigan. I'm a beginner at sewing, but it sounds like I'm like you--b/c I just like to whip things up without a pattern....but, can you give us a few pointers on how to make these dresses so I don't just waste a bunch of fabric. ;) Cute blog-you're talented and gorgeous.
