Welcome Sponsor: The Fabric Fairy

I'd like to welcome The Fabric Fairy as my newest sponsor!  I can't tell you how many emails I've received asking where to get some good quality knits.  It's always tough to find them, especially if there aren't very many fabric stores with a good selection of apparel fabrics in your city.  Well I'm happy to direct you all to The Fabric Fairy!  They have a great selection of high quality knits to choose from.  And they are very reasonably priced as well.  They carry some gorgeous cotton fabric as well, but specialize in carrying trendy knit fabric.  Here are a few options to get you drooling....

I don't even know if I've ever seen argyle knit fabric for sale.  Wouldn't these make some cute baby leggings?

leopard.  Can't go wrong with leopard.

They also have a great selection of solid color knits.  Maxi skirts anyone?

some amazing Juicy knit fabric. For $4.99 per yard! Dying.

and we can't forget about stripes...

are you seeing what I am seeing?  Navy and white striped knit.   I have scoured online fabric sites looking for this exact fabric.  Once in a blue moon I see it at the district in LA and get as much as I can.  I'd jump on this baby asap.

in love with this one too.

And if that isn't enough, The Fabric Fairy is offering one lucky Elle Apparel follower a $20 gift certificate!

sprinkled + Raspberry Creek giveaway winner

I helped throw a little baby shower a few weekends ago for my friend Kayla.  She is having her second, so we decided to go with a "sprinkled" theme.  (Thank you Pinterest)  The inspiration for the theme we found here.  Did you know for your first baby it's called a "shower", and for your second it's called a "sprinkle"?  So the theme was very fitting.

My friend Merrick held it at her home, and she handled all of the decor, and designed the cards for the game and invites.

Samantha, Merrick, Kayla, and I
So excited for Kayla and baby Azalea's debut in just 3 weeks!

Anthro inspired caftan

I have been in love with this caftan from Anthropologie for a while now.  It's no longer availalbe on their website, so I added it to my "Things to Sew" board on Pinterest.

I had kind of just forgotten about it, until I found some fabric that reminded me of it in LA.  So I snatched up 5 yards.  It was $2 per pound, and weighed next to nothing, so I'm pretty sure it literally cost me $2.  I figured it would be great and flowy with my baby bump, and the colors were perfect for fall.  And after some trial and error, and many threats to throw it in the trash, I finally completed it to my liking.

I made a row of tiny pleats along the top of the sleeves, and the empire waist.  The back is just straight, but has the effect of being gathered once it is tied around the waist.  Since the fabric is sheer, I made a black maxi skirt and wore it with a black top underneath the caftan.

I felt especially pregnant wearing it, but I guess that's one of the joys of being 7 months pregnant.  You don't have to feel too self conscious wearing 4+ yards of fabric.  You're growing a human inside of you for crying out loud!

Welcome Sponsor: Raspberry Creek Fabrics + Giveaway!

First of all, I just want to say a big thank you to all of the kind words and support for my new shop!  I honestly wouldn't have opened one if it wasn't for your sweet emails and comments.  THANK YOU!

Next, I would like to try and brighten your Monday morning with introducing you to my newest sponsor and an awesome giveaway!  Welcome Raspberry Creek Fabrics!

Raspberry Creek Fabric sells tons of great designer fabrics.  By tons I mean like....18 pages worth.  Which I may or may not have spent a majority of my time looking though last night.  Here are a few that caught my fancy:

Flora  /  Trees

Their shop is great because you can select individual fabrics, or go with a bundle that will give you a set of coordinating fabrics that would be perfect for a blanket.  They also carry ric rac in some beautiful colors.
I have been pouring over fabric looking for bedding and blankets for our upcoming little bundle of joy and fell in love with this bundle:

So what do you get to win this week?  This gorgeous Aqua and Gold Bundle!

It has all the makings of a gorgeous quilt.  To enter you must be an Elle Apparel follower.

1st entry:  Simply leave a comment telling me what you would make with this fabric, and who it would be for. (and no shame in keeping it for yourself.  I'd make a quilt that was mine all mine!)

2nd entry:  Like Leanne Barlow: Elle Apparel on facebook and leave me a second comment saying so.

Good luck everyone!  You have until midnight this Thursday to enter.  I'll announce the winner on Friday morning.
